Flowers Do Grow In Hell
“Flowers Do Grow In Hell” is my interpretation on the motif and celebration of Dia De Los Muertos. Taking some of my inspiration from Baroque era style as well as modern street style to blend them together to create a moodier, darker but overall vibrant feel. My focus on portraiture, using religious iconography and gold leaf to accent the figure makes things a bit more personal, saintly and alive. Dia De Los Muertos is not just about death, it’s about life and how beautiful it can become.
All pieces in this show were all created from the year 2014 to 2018 and exhibited individually in various gallery group shows.
This series was exhibited as a whole on October 2018 as a solo show at Oros Gallery in San Francisco.
